Lava Agni 3 Review - Techspecinsight

Lava has introduced its latest smartphone, the Lava Agni 3 and it is already creating buzz in the market with its innovative features. As a follow-up to its old Models. the Lava Agni 2, this model has brought a number of fresh elements making it one of the most exciting smartphones in its category. Lava sent us this device in a special mystery box. which we have already unboxed and tested thoroughly. Here’s an in-depth review of the Lava Agni 3 exploring its design, features, performance and much more.

Unboxing the Lava Agni 3

The unboxing experience of the Lava Agni 3 was a treat. The package itself came in a striking orange box giving it a unique and premium feel. Upon opening, you are greeted with an eye-catching blue variant of the phone. Along with the phone, the box includes a 66W charger, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a protective case and a SIM ejector tool. One thing that stands out right away is Lava’s commitment to offering free phone replacement services. a feature that they highlight repeatedly throughout the unboxing.

Design and Build Quality

The Lava Agni 3 takes a significant leap in terms of design. The first thing you wil  notice is an extra button on the side. which might initially confuse you about its function. but more on that later. This additional button has been added as part of Lava’s strategy to align with the ongoing trend of offering more physical controls in smartphones. What is even more interesting is that the back of the phone has a secondary screen, which is almost the same size as the camera module. This secondary display not only adds a futuristic element to the phone but also enhances its functionality.

The phone itself feels premium in hand. thanks to its matte glass back and curved display on the front. The sides are plastic. but they don’t take away from the solid feel of the phone. It weighs about 212 grams. which is slightly heavier than the usual smartphones in this price range, but it adds to the sturdy feel. The front features a 1.5K curved AMOLED display that stretches to 6.78 inches offering sharp visuals and a smooth touch experience.

Secondary Display: A Game-Changer

One of the most unique features of the Lava Agni 3 is its 1.74-inch AMOLED secondary display on the back. These kinds of secondary screens are usually found on foldable phones or high-end flagships but Lava has managed to incorporate it into a smartphone that is priced much lower. The secondary screen is touch-sensitive and offers a variety of functionalities.

You can use the rear screen to view notifications, control music or even launch the camera without unlocking the phone. One of the standout uses of this display is its ability to act as a viewfinder for the rear camera.which makes vlogging or taking selfies with the rear camera much more convenient. The screen can be easily turned on by a double tap and can be customized to display various widgets like weather updates, step counts and more.

Performance and Display

The front display of the Lava Agni 3 is a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED panel with 10-bit color support. which makes the colors pop and the display highly detailed. The sharpness and contrast are impressive. especially when compared to other smartphones in this price range. The HDR support ensures that you get a vibrant viewing experience, whether you are watching videos or playing games.

In terms of performance, the Agni 3 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. which is tailored for mid-range smartphones but comes with a bit of tweaking in this case. The Dimensity 7300 X chipset is optimized to support dual displays. making it a perfect fit for a phone with a secondary screen. We tested this phone with heavy games like PUBG and it ran smoothly on extreme settings at 40 FPS with minimal lag.

The phone also boasts 8GB or 12GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage depending on the variant. The device supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage ensuring fast data transfer speeds and smooth multitasking. While the performance is more than adequate for most users. the secondary screen does not affect the overall battery life or performance negatively, which is a huge plus.

Camera Setup

The Lava Agni 3 features a triple-camera setup on the back. which is highlighted by a 50MP primary sensor. There is also an ultra-wide sensor and a macro lens providing versatility in shooting. The rear camera performs well in both daylight and low-light conditions offering sharp images with good dynamic range.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the camera setup is the integration with the secondary screen. You can use the smaller display to capture photos and it brings up the entire camera UI allowing you to adjust settings without having to flip the phone. This is especially useful for vloggers and content creators who often struggle with framing while using the rear camera. The camera app is well-optimized for this feature and portrait photos in particular come out very well.

The front camera is also impressive, with a 32MP sensor that provides clear and detailed selfies. Whether you are using the front camera for video calls or the rear camera with the help of the secondary display. the Lava Agni 3 ensures a seamless camera experience.

Customizable Action Key

As mentioned earlier, the Lava Agni 3 includes an extra button which Lava refers to as the Action Key. This button is customizable and can be programmed to perform different tasks based on your preference. For example, you can set it to take screenshots, launch the camera, or even mute notifications. It supports up to three functions: single press, double press and press and hold.

However, it is worth noting that these custom actions only work when the phone is unlocked. When the phone is locked, only a limited number of actions, such as muting or unmuting the phone can be performed using the Action Key.

Battery and Charging

The Lava Agni 3 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery. which is an improvement over its old models. the Agni 2, which had a 4700mAh battery. This ensures a long-lasting battery life even with the use of dual displays. The phone supports 66W fast charging and in our test. it charged from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes, which is impressive for a phone in this category.

Software and Features

The phone runs on Android 13 and Lava has kept the UI clean with a stock Android-like experience. There are minimal bloatware apps which keeps the phone running smoothly. Lava also promises 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates ensuring that the phone stays up to date with the latest features and security patches.

One unique feature in the Lava Agni 3 is the Outdoor Toolbox.which offers tools like a compass, protractor and even a step counter. This feature seems targeted at users who spend a lot of time outdoors and need handy tools built into their phone. While these might seem like small additions. they add a level of practicality and uniqueness to the device.

Final Thoughts

The Lava Agni 3 is a bold step forward for Lava offering a premium design, innovative dual displays and solid performance at a competitive price. Its secondary display is not just a gimmick but adds real value especially for content creators and multitaskers. The phone MediaTek Dimensity 7300 X chipset ensures that it handles day-to-day tasks and gaming with ease. while the 5000mAh battery and 66W fast charging make sure you aren’t left hanging during long usage sessions.

Overall, the Lava Agni 3 is one of the most innovative smartphones in its price range and it is clear that Lava is committed to pushing boundaries with every new release. If you are looking for a feature-packed smartphone that does not break the bank. the Lava Agni 3 is definitely worth considering
