Hello everyone, welcome to a special review article ! I was incredibly excited to tell the Asus4 laptop, and there’s a particular reason for that—the processor it houses. Let's dive right in and see what’s inside the box.
Unboxing and First Impressions
The Asus4, a Type-C laptop, is made entirely of metal, giving it a very professional look. There’s minimal branding, which adds to its sleek appearance. After using the laptop for a while, I can say it offers numerous on-device AI features. Despite being thin and light, its performance is impressive. But the most remarkable aspect is its 18-hour battery life.
Design and Build
The laptop has a premium design, crafted entirely from aluminum alloy. It's incredibly thin, measuring only 1.47 cm, and weighs just 1.42 kg, which is exceptional for a 15-inch laptop. The build quality is solid, with minimal flex in the display and keyboard, ensuring durability. It even comes with military-grade certification. The hinge allows for easy one-finger opening, and the display features slim bezels with a 1080p IR webcam that supports face unlock, along with a physical privacy shutter.
Keyboard and Trackpad
The keyboard offers a good travel distance, making typing comfortable. It’s a full-sized keyboard with a single-zone RGB backlight and a numeric keypad. The trackpad is smooth and responsive, supporting various gestures efficiently. Swiping on different sides of the trackpad allows you to control brightness, volume, and even navigate through videos.
Ports and Connectivity
The laptop is well-equipped with ports. On the left side, there are two USB-C ports that support 40Gbps data transfer speeds, a microSD card slot, a headphone jack, and an HDMI port. The right side houses two USB-A 3.2 Gen ports. This diverse selection of ports ensures you have all the connectivity options you need.
Display
The Asus4 features a stunning 3K display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. The 15.6-inch display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, providing an excellent visual experience. Animations and scrolling are incredibly smooth, and the brightness is sufficient even under strong studio lights.
Performance
The laptop is powered by a high-end ARM chip, boasting impressive performance metrics. In benchmarks like Geekbench 6, it scored over 14,000 in multi-core tests and over 20,000 in GPU tests. The 3DMark stress test showed 97.5% stability, and the Cinebench score was around 9600. These scores are outstanding for a thin and light laptop, thanks to the ARM architecture.
ARM vs. x86 Architecture
Unlike traditional x86 laptops where components like RAM, CPU, and GPU work independently, the ARM architecture integrates them on a single chip, allowing seamless communication. This System on Chip (SoC) approach ensures consistent performance whether the laptop is plugged in or not. During tests, there was minimal performance difference between running benchmarks on battery and while charging, which is a significant advantage.
AI Features
In 2024, AI is everywhere, and this laptop showcases it beautifully. It includes features like on-device AI processing with Copilot Plus, which can handle tasks like writing poems, solving mathematical equations, summarizing articles, and translations without needing an internet connection. Real-time captioning during video playback and enhanced Paint app functionalities with AI are impressive additions.
Battery & Charging
The Asus4’s battery department is exemplary. It features a 70Wh battery that supports 90W charging. Interestingly, it can also charge with a 65W, 30W charger, or even a PD-supported power bank. This flexibility is a significant convenience for users.
Conclusion
Summing up, the Asus4 is an exceptional option with its high-end hardware, impressive AI capabilities, and remarkable efficiency. Whether for creative tasks or daily productivity, it delivers outstanding performance.
